How to Make Fladen
Dig a circular hole in the ground (if you have an old 50-liter wine barrel without a bottom that you can bury) or a square one, reinforcing the sides with wooden planks while making sure to leave the bottom of the hole uncovered (so no planks on the bottom!). The roots of nearby plants must NOT grow through the wooden planks.
The ingredients
- Very fresh manure without bedding, prepared in the same way as for Preparation 500, in a basic quantity of 5 x 10-liter buckets;
- Basalt flour (particle size 0.2 to 0.5 mm) – 500 g;
- Eggshells (preferably biodynamic or at least organic) – 100 g;
- A series of compost pile preparations.
Mix the ingredients
Grind the eggshells into a powder. Place the manure on a surface where you can gradually mix it with the basalt and eggshells while stirring rhythmically with a shovel—one turn to the right and one turn to the left—for 1 hour. This smooth, rhythmic, and uninterrupted mixing is ideal for the decomposition process once the mixture is placed in the pit.
Putting into the hole
After “dynamizing” and mixing the ingredients, place 50% of the mixture into the well and add 50% of the dose of each preparation (approximately 1 gram), excluding the valerian preparation. The preparations should be added in the order from 502 to 505. Then pour in the remaining 50% of the mixture and add the preparations again; finally, spray the valerian preparation after having dynamized it (5 drops of valerian preparation in 1 liter of water) for 10 minutes.
First and second processing stages
After covering the top with a wooden lid, let the mixture rest for a month. After this first month, open the pit and stir the contents with a shovel. Then let it rest for another month, after which it is ready for use.
